Each spring, an Azalea Society chapter or a group of interested persons hosts a convention, and invites all our members and their friends to attend. Each convention gives you a chance to see gardens in that area, hear talks and see slide shows about azaleas, renew old friendships and make new ones, buy hard-to-find varieties of azaleas at good prices, and be a part of the annual business meeting and election of officers. Think of the convention as an Azalea Society birthday party, along with a several day immersion into azaleas.

 next convention

March 14-17, 2010 is the date of our next convention, Louisiana Lagniappe, in New Orleans, Louisiana, hosted by the Louisiana Chapter of the Azalea Society. Top ten reasons to attend (beyond the obvious):
10. New Orleans is the destination!
9. 'Big Easy' is spicy and different!
8. Hotel is located in historic French Quarter.
7. Walking distance to restaurants, historic buildings, museums, & voodoo shops.
6. Good food is everywhere and anywhere!
5. Tour of New Orleans historic gardens.
4. Visit with Margie Jenkins in her nursery.
3. See one-of-a kind plants at Buddy Lee's Nursery.
2. Tour Margie Y. Jenkins Azalea Garden.
1. Get to say "Hi ya'll".
Lagniappe (lan'-yap) is an old Louisiana French custom of giving customers a little extra . . . and we plan to show you how it works!

So . . . click Louisiana Lagniappe to read all about the 2010 convention, and start thinking about spending a few days here with your friends at our next birthday party (you'll probably even get back home in time to see your own garden come alive). If you're still a maybe after that, feel free to e-mail Regina Bracy or Allen Owings for any more details you might need to turn your maybe into a YES.

Do It NOW: early registration (save $15) cutoff is 1 February; hotel cutoff (save much more) is 12 February!!!
