4 ft 0°F, Zone 7 Unnamed hybrid `CB #1’ ‘Elsie Lee’ x ‘ Dancing Butterfly’
4’ x 4’ (2’ x 2’ in 5 years), dense. Flowers white tinted light yellow-green (154D), with a very large strong to light yellow-green (145A-B) speckled dorsal blotch. Single with 5 wavy-edged lobes of heavy substance, broad funnel-shape, 2-3 per truss, 4” x 2.2” long. Pistil 2” long, stigma less than 0.1” diameter, light yellow-green (145B). Blooms early midseason; mid-April to May in Vienna, VA. Flowers are held upright, even in the rain. Calyx moderate yellow-green (138B), 0.4”. Leaves glossy, moderate olive-green (146A) above. Leaf shape: elliptic, broadly acute apex, cuneate base, flat, 2.2” x 0.4” wide. Plant and bud hardy to 0°F, at least. Named for my beautiful wife who first spotted this azalea and asked where I got the green flowering azalea.
