2’ tall x 2¾’ wide, dense. Flowers are a tonal bicolor: Moderate Purplish-Pink tones (54D and lighter), irregularly tipped with between Deep Pink (50B) and Strong Pink (50C), with a Moderate Red (N34C) blotch. Single hose-in-hose, funnel-shaped, with 10 (5+5) oval-rounded lobes and slightly wavy edges, 2 ½ ” wide x 2” long, 2-4 per cluster. Blooms heavily in early midseason (late April to early May in Oak Hill, VA). Foliage is darker than Strong Yellow-Green (darker than 144A), semiglossy. Leaf shape elliptic, cuneate base, broadly acute tip, up to 1?” long x up to ?” wide. Hardy in Zone 7/0°F, at least. Selection number: RBS 2. Breeder’s code #7-1990-3. ‘Pocono Pink’ (Swell) selfed. Named for Dianne Gregg who has been as member of the ASA since 1981. She was very involved with the former Brookside Chapter, serving in many capacities, including its President. To acknowledge all her efforts, Dianne was awarded their Frederic P. Lee Commendation in 2008. Her wooded garden features azaleas, both evergreen and deciduous, that bloom over a long period of time and represent many hybrid groups.
