2 ¼’ x 2 ¾-3’ (2’ x 2 ½’ wide in 8 years), intermediate habit. Flowers bicolor: buds and flowers somewhat brighter than vivid red (52A) with light purplish-pink (62C) center to each lobe, with faint dorsal spotting. Single with 5 wavy-edged lobes, broad funnel-shape, 3.2” x 2” long, 3 per terminal. Blooms midseason; early May in Springfield, VA. Calyx near brilliant yellow-green (142B), 0.2” long. Leaves semiglossy, mid-green above, hairless. Leaf shape: elliptic, broadly acute apex, cuneate base, downcurved edges, 1.8” x 0.8” wide. Plant and bud hardy to 0°F, at least.
