2 ½’ x 2 ½’ wide (2’ x 2’ in 9 years), dense. Buds deep pink (50B). Flower inside strong red (50A) irregular margins shading to deep pink (50B), then white, with bright yellow-green center and yellow-ocher blotch on dorsal lobe, speckled with a few purple dots. Flowers outside strong red (50A) shading to yellow at base. Double, broad funnel-shape, 3 per truss, 1.8” x 1.4” long. Blooms abundantly in mid to late April in Derwood, MD. Calyx green, 0.1” long. Leaves semi-glossy medium green with very fine white hairs below. Leaf shape: elliptic, broadly acute apex, cuneate base, flat, 1” x ½” wide. Plant and bud hardy to +2F, at least.
