1 ¾’ x 2 ¾’ wide (1 ½’ x 2 ½’ in 9 years), dense habit. Buds strong reddish-orange (42B). Flowers strong red (39A) with a dark red blotch. Double with 12-13 wavy-edged lobes, broad funnel-shape, 2-3 per terminal, 2.8” x 1.5” long. Blooms mid May in Derwood, MD. Calyx pale green, noticeably pubescent, 0.4” long. Leaves glossy, moderate olive-green (146A) above, with sparse white hairs. Leaf shape: elliptic, broadly acute apex, cuneate base, flat edges, 1” x ½”. Hardy to -8 F.
