Low, spreading. Buds and flowers dark true red (53C-D) with very dark red (53A) blotch on dorsal lobe and portion of adjacent. Single, broad funnel shape, with 5 lobes, smooth edges, 3” wide x 2” long, 2-3 per bud. Blooms midseason (early May in Springfield, VA). Calyx moderate yellow-green ((141 C-D), ¼” long. Leaves matte moderate yellow-green (143B). Leaf shape: elliptic, acuminate apex, cuneate base, flat edges, to 1 ¾” x ¾” wide. Zone 7/hardy to 0°F, at least.
