1’ x ¾’ wide (2’ x 1.2” wide in 20 years), intermediate habit. Buds vivid red (44A) with deep yellowish-pink (39B). Flower inside vivid red (44A) with varying amounts of deep yellowish-pink (39B) at center of each lobe. Flower outside vivid red (44A) with deep yellowish-pink (39B) midribs. Double hose-in-hose with 17-18 frilly-edged, rounded, overlapping lobes, broad funnel-shape, 3 per terminal, 2” x 1” long. Blooms late May in Derwood, MD. Leaves semiglossy, moderate olive-green (147A) to moderate yellow-green (147C) above. Leaf shape: elliptic, broadly acute apex, cuneate base, flat edges, 0.8” x 0.3” wide. Plant and bud hardy to -12F, at least.
