2 ½ ft 0°F ‘Desiree’ x unnamed hybrid CB-1 (RBS #90-8-7) ‘Midnight Flare’
2 ½’ x 3’ wide (2’ x 2 ½’ in 8 years), intermediate habit. Flowers white with light yellowish-pink margins and lightly flushed green base. Single with 5 frilly-edged lobes and some petaloidy, broad funnel-shape, 3 per truss, 3.2” x 1.8” long. Blooms abundantly, mid to late season; mid-May in Springfield, VA. Calyx brilliant yellow-green (149C), 0.5” long. Leaves moderate olive-green (near 137B), hairless. Leaf shape: elliptic, acute apex, cuneate base, flat edges, 2.2” x 0.6” wide. Plant and bud hardy to 0°F, at least.
