c (2’ x 1 ½’ in 5 years), dense. Buds strong reddish-purple (78B). Flowers white with large areas of strong reddish-purple (78B) and light purple (78C) sectors, stripes, and occasional selfs, with slight vivid reddish-purple (78A) blotch. Flower outside strong reddish purple (78B) and light purple (78C), shading toward white at the base. Double with 10 wavy-edged lobes, saucer-shaped, 2 per head, 2 ½” x 1 ½” long. Blooms early midseason; early April in Vienna, VA. Calyx light yellow-green (145A), 0.4” long. Leaves glossy, moderate olive-green (146A) above, no indumentum. Leaf shape: elliptic, broadly acute apex, cuneate base, flat, 1.8” x 0.8” wide. Plant and bud hardy to +10°F; zone 7. Name was selected through NIH charity auction; high bidder got to select the name.
