3’ tall x 3½-4’ wide with an intermediate habit. Flowers in tones of Strong Purple (77B) shading to pale purple at the center of each lobe and in the throat. Blotch of Vivid Reddish-Purple (N74B) on some flowers and Greyish Yellow-Green (148C) on others. Single hose-in-hose with 5 + 5 rounded, overlapping lobes with wavy edges, 2 ¾” wide x 1 ¾” long, 2-3 per cluster. Blooms earl -midseason (early May in Oak Hill, VA). Foliage Strong Yellow-Green (144A), semiglossy. Leaf shape: elliptic with a cuneate base and acuminate tip, up to 2” long and ¾” wide. Zone 7. Cross: ‘Cha Cha’, Mossholder x ‘Florence Waldman’, Roslyn. Selection number RBS 89. Breeder code: #8-98-01. Named for Aaron Cook who served the Azalea Society in many capacities, including President, Vice President, Director, and as part of the Editorial Advisory Board. Aaron started the ASA Seed Exchange in 2007, and has authored many articles in The Azalean. For all his effort on behalf of the ASA, he was given The Distinguished Service Award in 2021.
