| 2’ tall x 2 1/4’ wide with a dense habit. Flowers Strong Purplish-Red (58B) with a blotch of Strong Purplish-Red (61B). Single to semidouble, funnel-shaped with 5-10 rounded, overlapping, wavy to frilly edged lobes, 2 ¼” wide x 1 ½” long, 2-3 per cluster. Blooms early midseason (Early to mid May in Oak Hill, VA). Calyx Moderate Yellow-Green (139D), ¼” long. Foliage Strong Yellow-Green (143A), semiglossy. Leaves elliptic with a cuneate base and broadly acute tip, downcurved base to tip, up to 2” long x 1” wide. Zone 7; hardy to 0°F, at least. ‘Girard’s Hotshot’ (Girard) x CB #11 (unnamed azalea grown by Cliff Brown). Selection number: RBS 20. Breeder’s code: #2-1990-3. Named for Carol Flowers, who has been a member of the ASA since 1986. She served as its national secretary for many years.
