| 2 1/2' tall x 3 1/2' wide with an intermediate habit. Flowers dark purplish pink with a darker blotch. Irregular hose-in-hose, broad funnel-shape with rounded, overlapping lobes and wavy edges, 3 1/2" wide x 2" long, 1-2 per cluster. Calyx absent. Blooms early-midseason (late April to early May in Oak Hill, VA). Foliage matte strong yellow-green. Leaf shape: elliptic with a cuneate base and acuminate tip, concave (side-to-side), downcurved (base-to-tip), up to 2 1/4" long x 1" wide. Zone 7, at least. Cross: RBS #8-90-8 ('Desiree', Shamarello x CB #1 [unnamed hybrid grown by Cliff Brown]), Stewart x 'Janet Rhea', Linwood. Named for Albert (Al) Reid, the developer of the Linwood Hardy Azaleas. | |||||
