3’ x 3’, intermediate habit. Buds and flowers moderate yellowish-pink (49C), shading to random areas of cream, with yellow-green (144C) blotch. Single with 5 rounded, overlapping lobes, some petaloid stamens, 3” wide x 2” long, 2-3 per cluster. Blooms midseason (early May in Oak Hill, VA). Foliage Dark Olive-Green (146A). Leaves elliptic, broadly acute apex, cuneate base, flat edges, 1 ¾” long x 1” wide. Zone 7. Cross: ‘Haru-no-Hibiki’ x (‘Saybrook Glory’, Schroeder x ‘Satellite', Belgian Indian by Klupenger). Named for William (Bill) C. Miller, III to acknowledge his many roles in the Azalea Society starting in 1979. Among them are: ASA Vice President, Board of Governors, Editorial Advisory Board and Education and Scientific Director for the The Azalean, Co-chair ASA Membership Committee, Chairman of the Glenn Dale Preservation Project Committee. Bill has contributed many, many articles to The Azalean. An avid photographer, Bill has shared many images for use in The Azalean, the ASA Database, as well as with individuals. For his extensive service to the ASA, he was presented the Distinguished Service Award in 1995 and again in 2002. Bill was a founding member and very active in the Brookside Gardens Chapter, filling the role of President for years, making many presentations, and assisting with their annual flower show. In 1987 he received the Frederic P. Lee Award.
