3’ x 3’ ( 1 ½’ x 1 ½’ in 5 years), dense. Buds deep purplish-pink (73A). Flowers moderate purplish-pink (66D) with a prominent star-shaped design consisting of five yellowish-white bands originating 0.8” from base where each band is 0.25” wide, the width decreasing no less than 0.1” as it approaches the lobe tip. Two moderate to strong purplish-red (59C-D) V-shaped spotted dorsal blotches. Flower outside deep purplish-pink (73A). Single with 5 wavy-edged lobes, broad funnel-shaped, 3 per truss, 2.8” x 1.5” long. Blooms early midseason; mid-April to May in Vienna, VA. Calyx moderate yellow-green (138B), 0.3” long. Leaves glossy, moderate olive-green (146A) above. Leaf shape: obovate, broadly acute apex, cuneate base, flat, 2” x 0.8” wide. Plant and bud hardy to 0°F, at least.
